Sunny Slopes
If you’re a first-time skier or love powder skiing, Carinthian ski resorts have so much to offer for any level of skier. All 31 ski areas are included in the TopSkiPass, so you can travel far and wide to the best snow conditions. Carinthia’s ski resorts register around 100 more hours of sun in the winter months than destinations north of the main alpine ridge. Just remember to bring your sun cream!
Spa Delights in Carinthia
After a day on the slopes, it’s always ideal to have a spa experience. Carinthia has some excellent spa facilities. The Carinthian bathhouses by Lake Millstätter See, Lake Wörthersee or Lake Klopeiner See have delightful panoramic views of the stunning lakes and mountains in the area. Bad Kleinkirchheim also has two amazing thermal spas to access.
Go Beyond the Piste
Carinthia has 160 official ski touring spots in the Tourenportal Kärnten to discover with dedicated official mountain guides. The Nockeberge trail in particular is a brilliant five-day tour that covers Katschberg, Innerkrems, Turrach, Falkert and Bad Kleinkirchheim/St. Oswald. You can also have the comfort of staying in hotels rather than mountain huts too.

In addition to the amazing ski opportunities in Carinthia, there are so many winter activities to enjoy, including several frozen lakes where you can ice skate during the winter. Lake Weissense is Europe’s largest natural ice surface and a joy to skate on. For the thrill seekers, there’s ice diving in Lake Weissensee or ice climbing in Nassfeld or in Heiligenblut within the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern.
