Despite it's small size compared to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise it still manages to offer varied terrain.
Featuring great runs for beginners and families the resort remains a historic destination for alpine ski racing. The slopes overlook the town of Banff and can be the place to go on a powder day when others flock to the bigger ski areas instead. Famously big bumps can be found off the North American chair and this is also a good place for early season skiing – with 85% snowmaking coverage across the area’s 60 marked trails.
The resort is only a few minutes drive from Banff itself, one of the liveliest and best ski towns in North America. There’s a big seasonnaire crowd and numerous bars and restaurants (be sure to check out the various Happy Hour offers), making this a seriously fun resort after dark. Add to this the easy access to the other two ski areas outside of Banff, the spectacular scenery and the easy access from Calgary (the transfer takes around 2 hours), and it is clear why Banff is such a popular destination.

Winter finally comes to the Coastal Ranges, as a mild start to the week turns cold, with plenty of snow on its way over this coming weekend and beyond. A low pressure system moving off the Pacific will bring about 75cm of snow to Whistler as temperatures fall from positive to -10°C overnight.
Further inland, high pressure still dominates, with fine, dry and bright conditions – albeit cold – in play for most of the BC Interior and Rockies.
An unsettled week ahead is in store for the St Lawrence, with positive temperatures bringing rain to much of the region. This will rapidly turn to snow as the temperature plummets, with -22°C possible and probable overnight. The weekend will be more settled, with milder temperatures and more sun to boot.
