Anzère: Switzerland’s premiere mountain resort

Bathed in sunlight and boasting breathtaking panoramas, the south-facing mountain resort of Anzère is a gem in Switzerland’s Valais region.

Its favourable microclimate and peaceful ambience attracts visitors – and wildlife – throughout the seasons, but it’s particularly popular with nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts during winter who can’t stay away from this little corner of paradise.

Warm and welcoming, Anzère’s pedestrianised main square makes the village ideal for families.

But there’s much more to Anzère than its central square – as its riches extends from the plains up to an altitude of 3,250m, traversing vineyards, alpine meadows, forests and glaciers in the municipalities of Ayent and Arbaz.

The destination reaches its peak at the Wildhorn summit, which is relatively unknown to newcomers. As its name suggests, the untamed mountain reflects the spirit of Anzère, revealing nature in its purest form: beautiful and mysterious. Visit with family or friends to ski, unwind and forge unforgettable memories.

Discover Anzère’s prepared, adapted and marked paths on foot or with snowshoes, cross-country skis or on a ski tour.

Families wanting an easy stroll can amble around the village on the Pétoli tour, while ramblers keen for a longer walk can follow the Dahu tour, admiring views of the Valais Alps along the way. The Pierrier des Rousses meanwhile is a wilder route in the heart of nature, ideal for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

Two beginner areas make Anzère an ideal destination for novice skiers.

The first beginner zone, at the top of the ski area, is the perfect place for those wanting to learn and progress in a calm environment with fabulous panoramas. Beginners can acquire the basics of skiing or snowboarding safely on gentle, well-maintained slopes.

The second beginner area is free to access and conveniently located in Anzère’s village square. Its proximity to the resort is a major advantage for those wanting to learn to ski while staying close to amenities such as ski rental shops.

Whatever your skiing ability, you can enjoy Anzère’s wide variety of slopes. While most of Anzère’s slopes allow for sweeping turns and serene carving – intermediates will relish playing on its long, well-groomed runs – steeper slopes and narrower passages require particular skill.

The Anzère ski area offers two starting points: the Pas de Maimbré gondola and the less known Rousses chairlift, both of which are included in the annual Magic Pass.

Anzère is home to two toboggan runs. To use the free one in the village square, rent sledges from Jacky Sport, which is just a few steps away. You can also have fun on a 4km toboggan run in Les Rousses on the ski area – simply hire sledges from the ski lifts. Families with young children can also make the most of a Fun Park.
