On Snow Experience

On this holiday you’ll spend five days in the excellent and capable hands of one of the BASS (British Alpine Ski School) instructors, followed by a day of social skiing with your Ski Club Rep. The BASS team are experts in their field and consistently receive great feedback from Ski Club members. You’ll be skiing full days (of course broken up by a coffee break and a lunch stop), so be ready to give those legs a test and earn yourself a well-earned dip in the jacuzzi or a cold beer at the end of the ski day.

I am a keen all mountain skier, love skiing with my family, friends and club members. When I'm not skiing I'm a keen touring cyclist, enjoy sailing and generally being outdoors!

I am looking forward to repping for the Ski Club in the upcoming season.. My first ever introduction to skiing was a particularly snowy winter in England on home-made stainless steel skis! Then followed a school ski trip to Austria where there was very little snow, but it didn't matter - I loved being in the mountains and on snow. I started skiing more regularly in my 30s and have been to many different resorts in Europe and North America. I have also sampled skiing in Australia and Argentina. I am a qualified downhill and cross country ski instructor. In the summer, you might see me roller skiing in one of our lovely London parks or cruising on the UK waterways on my narrowboat. I look forward to meeting and skiing with you soon.

  • Constant investment in the lift network also allows it to boast one of the most efficient lift networks in France.

VT has access to a varied 140km of local slopes, the Orelle Valley – often considered the ‘fourth valley’ of the Three Valleys area – and via six passes to Méribel and the rest of the 600km of linked pistes that extend to the far end of Courchevel.

The lively resort sits at the head of the Belleville Valley and completely above the treeline, alongside Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville. These villages provide the perfect option for those looking to escape the bustle of Val Thorens itself, providing a quieter base from which to ski. On clear days, the location lends itself to a truly spectacular panorama, though it sometimes does present a challenge during whiteouts.

Situated at the top of the Three Valleys, its high altitude means it is snowsure, while the modern ski lift system makes it easy to access the linked resorts of Méribel and Courchevel.

    Pros and cons

    • Extensive slopes for all abilities, plus access to the vast Three Valleys ski area
    • One of the most snowsure resorts in the world, let alone the Alps
    • Great lift system that has been constantly improving
    • Very convenient ski-in-ski-out resort
    • All above the tree-line so can be bleak in bad weather
    • Not a huge amount to do for non-skiers
    • Some very crowded pistes and busy intersections
    • Après can get a bit rowdy for some

    Hotel Le Sherpa

You will be staying in the family run 3* Hotel le Sherpa on a half board basis. Breakfast is served buffet style and dinner consists of 5 courses of traditional French cuisine. You can ski right to the front door of the hotel and enjoy the hotel’s excellent spa facilities which include a traditional sauna, a hammam steam room and a jacuzzi. The new cosmic sauna on the hotel’s terrace has panoramic views of the slopes – we’d recommend heading down here for sunset! This holiday is on a twin share basis. If you are a solo traveller, then you will be placed in a room with someone of the same gender. Single rooms may be available upon request. These are subject to our hotel room allowance. If you require a single room, please book early to avoid disappointment.

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday.
We offer a Ski Club Insurance policy which provides the cover we require for all bookings. This policy can be found here: Ski Club Travel Insurance – Ski Club Of Great Britain
If you decide to purchase insurance elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure that your policy provides cover as that of the Ski Club Insurance policy. The policy of insurance should provide cover for personal injury, death, medical and repatriation costs in the countries which you intend to visit, together with cover for loss of baggage and valuables, personal liability, delay, cancellation, curtailment, missed departure and legal expenses. The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.
Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.
