The Ski Club of Great Britain is proud to present the 2025 Evie Pinching Award to Molly Butler, recognising her outstanding achievements in Alpine ski racing over the past year.
The Evie Pinching Award celebrates the rising stars of British snowsports—supporting talented young skiers and snowboarders across disciplines, from slopestyle to downhill and everything in between, with a £1,000 grant to help them reach their goals.
Molly’s 2024/25 season has been nothing short of exceptional. She claimed the British Women’s Slalom Champion title and qualified for her first FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, held in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, in February. There, she delivered a strong performance, placing 34th in the Giant Slalom—a major milestone in her international career.
In receiving this historic award, Molly joins an elite list of past winners, including Katie Ormerod (2015), Menna Fitzpatrick (2016), and Thomas Gerken-Schofield (2017)—all of whom have gone on to represent Great Britain at the highest levels of competition.
Speaking about the award, Molly said:
“I’m really honoured to receive the Evie Pinching Award from the Ski Club. Being recognised in this way makes what has been my best ever season even more special, as a lot of hard work is starting to pay off.
I’m hugely grateful for the grant that comes with this award—it’s going to be a huge help as we begin preparing for another big season, which includes trying to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina.
Ski racing is a tough sport, but we’ve made huge progress over the past twelve months. Despite the challenges, I absolutely love it, and it’s a real privilege to represent my country in FIS races and at the World Championships.”
The award honours Evelyn Pinching (1915–1988), a pioneering British Alpine skier who won gold in both the downhill and combined events at the 1936 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Innsbruck and competed in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Molly Butler is a member of the British Europa Cup squad and currently ranked 128th in the world in slalom. A two-time Youth Winter Olympian, she has recorded a top-10 finish in Giant Slalom and has been a consistent national champion from a young age. Fluent in French, Molly began racing with the Saint Gervais race club and now proudly represents Great Britain on the international stage, with her eyes firmly set on Olympic qualification.
