Champoluc is at one end of the Monterosa ski area three-valley network.
The three-valley network of lifts and pistes is anything but small-scale. Champoluc is at one end of it and Alagna at the other – they are 17km apart – slightly further apart than Courchevel and Val-Thorens. However, it’s around a four-hour trip by road to get from Alagna to Champoluc if you miss the last lift.
Given the lack of international exposure it retains a friendly, small-scale, unspoiled Italian ambience. Yet it offers some of the best off piste in the whole of Italy.

Ski Pass Prices
The Monterosa Ski Area employs dynamic pricing, with the topline rate varying between €38 and €67 per day, depending on time of year, day, and demand. Discounts off this topline day rate are available the further you book in advance, when booking online, and booking consecutive days.
You can use your Ski Club Membership card to load your Monterosa Ski Area lift ticket, either online or at the ticket office, and avoid the €2 fee for purchasing a new RFID card from the resort. More details can be found here.

Our Day
What a fantastic day! We managed to find fresh untracked runs…Run C7 Belvedere is a run that is usually left until late afternoon but we thought lets give it blast early and we where rewarded almost untouched powder has to be run of the day. Kept looping around the Champoluc and Frachey slopes and found some fantastic snow. Late morning hydration stop was taken at 15 Taconet and later lunch at Lo Retsignon 13.
Weather
Snow showers, low cloud and fog. Temperatures stayed around minus 2 not much wind so wind chill didn’t really effect the day.

Snow Overview

High pressure dominates over most of Europe this week, thanks to the Jetstream forming a strong barrier along the west cost of Ireland, the UK and Norway. As a result, plenty of sun and fine, dry and bright conditions will be story of the week from now until the end of the weekend.
Things will remain cold, however, with a freezing line camping out at around 1,000m, occasionally peaking to 2,000m in the midday sun. Daytime highs of -5°C can be expected at 2,000m, occasionally slipping into positive temperatures throughout the week.
A few flurries of snow will move over Piemonte over this weekend, as low pressure bubbles away in the Mediterranean. This will bring about 5cm to the region, with the barrier becoming more broken down as the weekend comes to a conclusion and unsettled weather moving across the whole of the Italian Alps – it remains too early to tell how much snow this will bring.

Repping dates: 19/01/2025 - 02/02/2025I have been lucky enough to have been skiing from a very early age, coming from good Austrian/Cornish stock; I spent my early winter years on the mountains surrounding Innsbruck learning and perfecting my falling with style technique. Since then I have had a couple of years racing, and qualified as an instructor, while serving in the army. Squeezed in 5 seasons working as an instructor/guide in Kitzbuhel , perfected the game of nails and acquired a taste for schnapps. My passion for skiing and the mountains has never diminished. As a Rep I look forward to sharing this passion and enthusiasm with others who feel the same...

Repping dates: 02/02/2025 - 16/02/2025I started skiing at school in Inverness a long time ago.
Since then, I’ve skied and toured all around Europe, and have done a couple of seasons in France since I retired from work.
I enjoy all types of skiing, but prefer to be off piste as much as possible when it’s safe to do that.
My other hobbies are climbing and sailing. I was involved in mountain rescue for nearly 20 years, and learned a bit about mountain safety/first aid through that work.

Repping dates: 16/02/2025 - 02/03/2025I have been an avid skier since becoming hooked as a teenager, and spend as much time as possible in the mountains with my family. I became a rep in 2018 and am loving winter adventures with the club.
To date I have repped in Alagna, Kitzbuhel, Whistler and Baqueira. This winter I’m ‘stoked’ as they say in Canada to be representing the club on the inaugural Canadian Safari bucket list trip, as well as resort repping in Champoluc, Monte Rosa.
Away from the mountains I enjoy trail running, sailing and strumming my old guitar.
