Each of the village bases offers something different. The traditional villages of Peisey, Vallandry and Villaroger bookend the four purpose-built resort bases – roughly named after the height at which they are located – 1600, 1800, 1950 (the newest) and 2000, all of which offer a huge number of good value apartments and are traffic-free.
The terrain is very varied and unlike many big French resorts, there are some great tree-lined runs to head to in a snowstorm – our favourites are the routes served by the Grizzly chairlift. On a sunny day the Arc 2000 bowl provides some great cruising, whilst the Aiguille Rouge offers some good challenges for advanced and expert skiers, including the epic descent all the way from 3226m down to the small hamlet of Villaroger down at 1200m. Add in the La Plagne ski area and you have access to the world’s second largest linked ski area.
Each resort town brings its own atmosphere. 1600 and 1800 are the biggest and most lively, with accommodation mostly in the form of good value apartment blocks. The new Mille 8 development at 1800 has made a big difference for families, making this our top choice if you’re heading to Les Arcs with little ones. 1950 is the newest village having been built fifteen years ago and 2000 has great access to the bowl for skiing above. Peisey and Vallandry offer slightly more traditional accommodation and more chalets, all in a quieter, wooded setting.
Les Arcs is a great choice for families wanting convenience, especially as much of the accommodation is in ski-in-ski-out, self-catering apartments. The new Mille 8 area at 1800 is a great innovation and it has an excellent leisure pool at the base as well as skiing and tobogganing. Arc 1950 has a family-friendly layout and also has a good programme of kids’ activities. Family chalet holidays are mostly available in Peisey and Vallandry.
The Les Arcs après scene focuses on the legendary L’Arpette Restaurant, which is packed as the lifts close – it has to have one of the finest sunset views anywhere in the Alps. Back in resort, 1800 is the liveliest of the villages and Red Hot Saloon or Chez Boubou are the places to head to if you’re staying there. Après in the other villages is much more laid back, but some decent bars and happy hours can still be found.

The Ski Club uses third party independent assessments and accreditation of ski resorts to determine a resort “environmentally sustainable” – more information can be found here.
As part of the French Flocon Vert (tr. Green Snowflake) scheme, Les Arcs has been awarded two snowflakes out of a possible three, representing significant investment in resources to reduce its environmental impact. Flocon Vert is an independent scheme operated by Mountain Riders, which accredits resorts in France who have met twenty criteria based on environmental, social and economic sustainability; only a quarter of Flocon Vert recipients have been awarded two snowflakes – no area has been awarded three.

Our Snow Overviews are updated bi-weekly between the start of December and early May every season, providing summaries of snowfall, weather, avalanche risk and other noteworthy meteorological events to help you prepare for your skiing holiday. Check back next winter to stay up-to-date on the latest weather happenings in resort.
Your Ski Club Reps are in resort for one reason only; to help you discover better skiing. They are your personal resort gurus, with years of experience skiing here and around the world, who will bring you and your fellow Members together to conquer the mountain! Stay up to date with everything in resort, find the best spots for an après beer, and ski to your heart’s content.
Our Reps will be in resort between 4 January and 28 March 2025, skiing six days a week – Reps’ day off/changeover day is Saturday in this resort. We are making changes to how registration to ski with the Club in resort works. Thank you for your patience whilst we undertake these updates to the registration process.
I have been skiing since the age of 8. I completed the Joint Service Downhill Ski instructors course in the Army and also did some ski racing during my 10 years in the Army. Since my Army days ( a few years ago now! 1994) I have skied and snow boarded in multiple resorts across Europe, plus one resort in America and two resorts in New Zealand. I often organize ski trips and guide friends and families around resorts. I love to meet new people and have shared experiences. I have a passion for the outdoors and have been known to free camp on top of mountains! (in the summer). My other interests include sailing, tennis, diving, motorcycling and charity work. Looking forward to skiing with you in the future.
Started skiing in Scotland in the late 1960's; leather lace up ankle boots, ski's measured by reach above head, cable bindings etc... Been through many different types of equipment since then, and skiing styles too.
Ski for fun, on and off piste, drawing on experience rather than fitness these days. Can get down most slopes and still do the odd challenge, such as the equivalent of an Everest descent in a day; beat the lift; hit the hundred (kph).
Although I came to skiing quite late in life, I've spent the last 20 years (and a commensurate amount of cash and energy!) trying hard to make up for missed opportunities and the repping service allows me the chance to ski with like minded individuals and to explore new resorts and territories and to meet fellow alpine enthusiasts. I'm equally happy searching out new tracks in powder as carving rails on piste. If only I could ski them as well as I imagine myself to be doing so.
Despite the name, I am originally from Kent and a confirmed Southerner. I manage both commercial and residential property to fund my ski trips and between times am a keen gardener and yoga enthusiast. Skiing to me is one of those essentials of life; there are no friends on a powder day!
I've skied in many of the well-known (and several not so well known) European and N American ski areas. I love tree skiing - preferably during a snow dump in one of the myriad resorts around Park City. In recent years I have discovered that I really enjoy ski touring as a change from resort-based piste and off-piste skiing. When it's too warm to go skiing I spend my time sailing around the Scottish West coast.
We are still early in the process of assigning Reps for the 2024/25 winter season. Thank you for your patience whilst we make these arrangements.
