Check out the Ski Club’s holidays available in this resort
The centre of Park City focuses on the historic Main Street, which is lined with 19th Century buildings that are now home to a great range of shops, bars and restaurants. There is a lot of self-catered accommodation in this part of town, based in the traditional wooden houses that make Park City unique amongst ski resorts in the USA. In town we’d recommend grabbing a post-snow drink at the Wasatch Brewpub, No Name Saloon or O’Shucks. Direct access to the slopes is on offer via the Town Lift and a great bus service links the entire resort.
Further accommodation is available in the purpose-built Park City Mountain Resort at the foot of the Payday Express and across at the base of the Red Pine Gondola at Canyons. Here there are a number of large hotels and condominium blocks. Whilst both are very convenient, the charm of old Park City has to outweigh this and if you get the chance, we’d recommend staying there instead.
Park City has something for everyone, including beginners who are catered for fantastically at both ends of the resort. On the Park City side, at the foot of the slopes there is a great learning area, above which lie numerous long, winding greens for progression. Over at Canyons, the High Meadow fast quad provides access to a good beginner area, but be aware that downloading may be required at the end of the day as there are only blues back into town.
The sheer scale of the resort makes it perhaps the best bet in the USA for piste-hungry intermediates. Park City prides itself on the quality of its grooming, meaning you can expect fresh corduroy across the mountain each morning. Adventurous skiers and boarders will love the sense of travel across the entire resort. To avoid the weekend queues we would recommend the runs off the Motherlode Express on the Park City side and those off the Super Condor Express above Canyons.
For advanced skiers and boarders there is some fantastic terrain on offer.
McConkey’s Express (named after skiing legend Shane McConkey) whisks you up to some great open terrain on the ridgeline above Park City, as does the Jupiter chair, while the best slopes on the Canyons side can be found off the Ninety- Nine 90 Express – the highest lift in the ski area. Keen freestylers will certainly also want to try out the world-renowned park above Park City – which hosted the 2019 World Championships.

The location makes it super easy to access from Salt Lake City – the drive takes around forty-five minutes – as well as the other resorts in the Wasatch Mountains, making this an ideal stop on a multi-resort trip.

A strong atmospheric storm is bringing really good snowfall totals to many areas on the Left Coast through the middle of this week, marking the US’s return to proper winter. Some serious totals will be found across the region, starting in the PNW and Sierras, and moving across the whole region. Snowfall totals by the end of this week could be as high as 2ft in the PNW and Tetons, a foot-and-a-half across Utah, and a foot across Colorado.
Things turn drier once again into the weekend.
A really cold start to this week sees overnight highs of -20°C, warming to -10°C on the Ice Coast. Cloud will dominate, with a few flurries of snow – especially over the weekend – that will work to freshen up slopes in the region.
