Looking for the best city-ski break in Europe? For fun on the piste and all the charms of a walkable city, there’s one easy ticket – the SKI plus CITY Pass Stubai Innsbruck.

As Tirol’s capital Innsbruck is where history, culture and city fuse with fantastic skiing. This storybook Alpine city is perfectly placed for a combined fix of downhill and downtown – a ski destination unlike any other: a medieval city and university town of unparalleled beauty, surrounded by an exciting assortment of ski areas.

And with the new pass, SKI plus CITY Pass, you’ll enjoy no fewer than 13 local ski resorts easily reached by free ski bus and one lift ticket. On a cultural escape to Innsbruck, it’s easy to ski a different area each day – including a snowsure glacier and Austria’s highest ski resort. This unique combination makes atmospheric Innsbruck a hit with family and friends of all ages and interests. From great slopes and show-stopping cakes to shopping, music and museums, Innsbruck is an urban-alpine getaway with a difference.

Peaky panoramas and sightseeing, action and relaxation – it all comes together here, just minutes from an airport served with direct flights from several UK cities. The new SKI plus CITY Pass Stubai Innsbruck offers the full package: 13 ski areas, 22 city experiences, three indoor pools, the use of the entire ski bus network as well as the Innsbruck Sightseer hop-on, hop-off bus tour.

Hundreds of kilometres of pistes and a variety of ski areas are just a stone’s throw from the city. Ski buses move from city door to ski lift and back again. And after skiing, what do you fancy? A visit to the glittering Imperial Palace or a trip to the Alpine zoo? Zoom to the top of the Olympic Bergisel ski jumping stadium or marvel through the sparkling exhibits of Swarovski Crystal World (this is the home of the famous crystals, after all). Soak body and relax the mind at one of three indoor pools. After a day on the Tirolean slopes, the city awaits with shops, cobbled streets, and perhaps a café moment for excellent coffee and something with whipped cream on top, the delectable glue that binds Austrian society. The proud history rich capital of the Tirol, Innsbruck is a ski resort in its own right – and its pretty pastel-painted medieval buildings make a beautiful backdrop for a ski getaway with a difference.

Ski Area

Skiing, sightseeing and relaxing – all in one.

From glittering glacier panoramas to dramatic views right over the Inn river and the capital of culture itself, it’s your choice. You can’t get great skiing closer to a beautiful city than the legendary Olympic skiing and bobsleigh site, Patscherkofel, easily accessible from the city centre whose shiny modern cable car continues to make it a local favourite. Or the city’s crowning jewel, Nordkette, a bijou series of panoramic pistes and perched high above the city centre, served by one of the Alps’ most exciting lift stations. Designed by star architect, the late Zaha Hadid, its floaty glass-paned stations lace the 20-minute skyward trip from the futuristic base and bridge to the art deco top station. An authentic Tirolean resort atmosphere is alive in Kühtai, Austria’s highest ski village, flanked by smooth pistes and open powder. Perched high , snow is certain through spring and hotels are located just steps from the lifts. There’s the K-Park fun park, night skiing, and no fewer than 47 km of pistes with all the valley stations situated at more than 2,000 m so snow is assured. Just a few kilometres away lies the Hochötz ski area, a popular spot with families.

Also ideal for the family, the idyllic slopes of the Muttereralm lead gently through forest and magical glades. The gentle and accessible Bergbahnen Oberperfuss ski area on the Rangger Köpfl receives accolades for its friendly staff, while those seeking more action will find that on snowy days the ideal conditions for freeriding are on the legendary Olympic slopes of Axamer Lizum. Just minutes outside Innsbruck, sunny and high Axamer Lizum offers ideal conditions for tracing the tracks of the great Olympians of the 1964 and 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. The Glungezer near Hall, just 10 km from Innsbruck, is the perfect choice for adventure amidst the wilds of alpine nature. More than 100 km of slopes draw visitors to the largest glacier ski area in Austria, the Stubai Glacier. Some 26 ultra-modern lifts take guests swiftly up to 3,210 m and guaranteed snow. In the Stubai Valley, a bevy of further ski areas await with the SKI plus CITY Pass. Among them, the all-rounder for young and old, Schlick 2000, the challenging Elferbahnen ski and toboggan area, not to mention the Serlesbahnen family ski area, where sunlit winter hikes unfurl over snowy alpine landscapes. The panoramic Bergeralm ski area in Steinach am Brenner is also included in the SKI plus CITY Pass and, as with each and every one, the price is right.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds

The wonder of crystal as it has never been seen before. World famous & wonderful: Swarovski Crystal Worlds, located just 20 kilometres east of Innsbruck, awaits with new and exciting attractions. Between 2013 and 2015, the worlds of art and culture, entertainment and shopping were extended to cover an area of 7.5 hectares. The ‘Home of the Giant’ now inspires with a new poetic garden, which features a unique Crystal Cloud made from 800,000 hand-mounted and enchanted floating crystals. This mystical masterpiece is the largest of its kind worldwide and with it Swarovski has set the new standard for brilliantly implemented installations. The Crystal Cloud draws visitors to the Mirror Pool where the sparkling light of the crystals is captured to form a sea of stars both day and night.
