With 80% of the skiable area above 1,900m, the region is extremely weather resilient, ensuring exceptional snow conditions throughout the season. The terrain extends from the winding slopes of Cesana at 1,350m, to its highest point at the 2,800m high Motta peak, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
2. A SKI RESORT FOR EVERY NEED
Spanning two countries, the eight resorts include Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere, Pragelato, and Oulx in Italy, as well as Montgenèvre in France, with each resort offeirng a unique mountain experience.
Sestriere delivers great slopes and infrastructure, offering the convenience of ski-in/ski-out accommodation and a plethora of restaurants. At 2,035m it is also one of Italy’s highest resorts, ensuring optimum snow conditions throughout the season.
Sun-drenched Sauze d’Oulx is particularly popular with skiers who enjoy wide and fast tree-lined runs. The stone buildings and cobbled streets of the old town contain the resort’s famous nightlife, from après bars to cosy wine cellars, making it the liveliest and most sought-after ski resort in Vialattea.
In the heart of Vialattea is the small and laid-back alpine village of Sansicario. Its prime location at the centre of the 400km area makes it an ideal base for exploring the region, and the quiet, wooded slopes above the village offer the perfect warm up before venturing further afield.
Towards the French border lies the hidden gem of Claviere, a scenic village nestled among the mountains, offering magnificent landscapes and uncrowded slopes. With Montgenèvre just a short ski away, Claviere offers the option to ski two countries in one holiday, giving you the best of both worlds.

Vialattea’s resorts are host to some of the most famous ski slopes in the Alps, where millions of enthusiasts gather every season, allowing expert skiers to follow in the tracks of great champions. Vialattea boasts a great sporting tradition, with slopes designed to host prestigious events, including numerous editions of the Alpine Ski World Cup and the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.
The ski area also offers numerous attractions and activities for families and children, with something to keep everyone occupied. Little ones can enjoy the baby fun parks in Sansicario and Sauze d’Oulx – designed to provide an interactive and fun learning environment – or, alternatively, book in for private or group lessons from experts, providing the perfect introduction to the slopes.
For non-skiers, Vialattea also offers a plethora of unique experiences, including Husky sledding, mountain snowmobile tours, and, for the more adventurous, paragliding. Once an appetite has been worked up on the slopes, there are charming mountain restaurants scattered across the valley to be explored, offering the best of Italian and French cuisine.
4. EASY TO REACH
Vialattea’s relative affordability and ease of access makes it the perfect winter destination for skiers looking to maximise their time in the mountains and on the slopes, rather than in transit.
The resort’s nearest airport is Turin Caselle, and it is also well connected to Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Genoa City Airport, all of which are served by regular flights from airports across the UK.
The region is also easily accessible by road, at just an hour’s drive away from Turin, and rail. The Oulx train station – the gateway to Vialattea – is well served by regional and high speed trains from both Italy and France, offering a more sustainable option for travellers.
This season, following a new partnership between Vialattea and Trenitalia, the major train operator in Italy, skiers who reach Oulx by Le Frecce, Intercity, or regional trains will be entitled to a discount of up to 25% on their ski passes.
