Ski touring may be suggested should you need to venture further afield to access the best off piste conditions. This will all be dependent upon conditions and the guides you have on your trip. If you are part of a large Freshtracks trip then there may be the opportunity for one group not to participate in any ski touring for the duration of the trip. If this is the case, please inform your Ski Club Rep at the beginning of the trip. It is essential that guests have the correct ski profile for their holiday, please see the ‘View dates & prices‘ tab for specific holiday information.

Andrea Enzio IMFGA

Andrea Enzio

I was born in Varallo in 1968; Ski instructor since 1990 and Mountain Guide since 1991. I started my working career in the mountain at an early stage, following in the footsteps of my father and my family who are mainly made up of mountain guides and ski instructors.

Having always had a passion for sport, I participated as an athlete in the Alagna alpine Ski Club for many years. After that I started rock climbing and then moved on to alpinism. I soon became a ski instructor and mountain guide and started these two jobs in summer and winter alternating them with maintenance work and managing the high altitude Huts, Margherita and Gnifetti on Monte Rosa.

Attracted mainly to winter sports, I started snowboarding and also completed an instructor’s course. After obtaining a qualification in canyoning guide, and participating in some Himalayas high mountain expeditions, I have been dedicating my attention and passion to skiing, from free ride and extreme snowboarding. On my side, you can count on some of the most important extreme line in the Monte Rosa group.

A lifetime dedicated to sport: other than alpinism and skiing, I am also a sailing fan, I did parachuting; I fly paraglide; white water kayak; scubadiving.

I live in Alagna and I’m the president of the historic Guide Association in Alagna founded in 1872, and technical director of the homonym guide School.

I work as Mountain Guide, Ski Instructor, Air Rescuer at helicopter base in Borgosesia and Alessandria. Married since 2013 with Barbara and now two kids: Caterina(9) and Giacomo(7).

The mountains are my favourite place and I am looking forward to spending as much of the summer and all of the winter in the Alps. As well as skiing on and off piste, I love getting out into the middle of nowhere, ski touring and some very amateurish climbing. When not skiing I enjoy walking and cycling round the Surrey hills, travelling, wine and history, ideally all rolled into one.

I am a keen skier and passed my Leaders (now Reps) course in 2018 and I have mainly skied in the European Alps although have ventured as far as Whistler and Colorado! I ski when ever I can and am happy at any level, beginner to advanced, on piste, off piste. I have also done some ski touring and am keen to develop this further. I also like the mountains in the summer and have summitted several 4000m+ peaks including Mont Blanc and Grand Paradiso. I am looking forward to this season and what it may bring!

  • Situated 600 meters beneath the snowsure resort of Passo Tonale, Ponte di Legno is conveniently connected through two gondolas, as well as a number of pistes.

Ponte di Legno makes for a great base to explore the region, and its wooded setting offers great shelter in unfavourable weather conditions, unlike its loftier neighbours. While the pistes may be considered to better suit beginner and intermediate skiers, the resort is home to some fantastic off piste terrain for its more advanced visitors.

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday.
We offer a Ski Club Insurance policy which provides the cover we require for all bookings. This policy can be found here: Ski Club Travel Insurance – Ski Club Of Great Britain

If you decide to purchase insurance elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure that your policy provides cover as that of the Ski Club Insurance policy. The policy of insurance should provide cover for personal injury, death, medical and repatriation costs in the countries which you intend to visit, together with cover for loss of baggage and valuables, personal liability, delay, cancellation, curtailment, missed departure and legal expenses. The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.

Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel.

NB: Starting in 2025 (Date TBC) travel authorisation will be required to travel withing Europe – find out more here ETIAS (europa.eu)

    Rep Review – January 2024

    Colin Skipper, July 8, 2024

This holiday is a real off piste adventure, set in high mountains with interesting terrain and stunning scenery. Most days involve back country skinning and hiking; with some steep slopes to tackle. To get the most out of the holiday you will need a high level of fitness, some previous off piste and touring experience, and the right equipment. Guiding is by Andrea Enzio and team, very knowledgeable and a real pleasure to ski with.

The Adamello ski area is located in the Trentino and Lombardy provinces in Italy, and comprises four different ski areas; Ponte di Legno, Passo Tonale, Presena Glacier and Temù. Elevation ranges from 1,100 to 3,000m with around 40 ski slopes served by 28 lifts, which act as the gateway to an extensive back country ski area. Due to the glacier, and the altitude and aspect the of ski areas, Adamello is “snow sure” (with summer skiing) and fresh snow usually stays cold and dry; providing excellent off-piste conditions in fantastic terrain.

Hotel Mirella is situated on the edge of Ponte di Legno, a short complimentary minibus shuttle from the lifts, and a couple of minutes’ walk from the town centre. The hotel provides a reasonable standard of accommodation, with pool and spa, and fantastic meals. A good “ski trip” hotel.
