On Snow Experience

This week has been designed for those who already have completed at least 1 week of off piste skiing and are now looking to build on their technique and skills to be able to tackle more challenging terrain. This course would be a perfect follow on from the Learn to Ski Powder week and a reasonable level of fitness is recommended for this trip. You will start the week with an exploratory warm-up day to get your ski legs working again. Following this are five full days of tuition from some of the best instructors in the Alps, who will offer technique improvement along with guidance around advanced terrain and conditions.  You will be split into groups of up to a maximum of 6 based on your ski profile and experience. This trip is for Beginner (Red+) and Intermediate (Silver) off piste skiers – at the end of the week you will be given an updated ski grade from your instructor or Ski Club Rep.

Diane Moreau Flaine

Diane Moreau

My name is Diane Moreau. I live with my family in Meze, a small town in the south of France next to the Etang de Thau. I have a 22-year-old son. I'm passionate about skiing and sailing, and it became my job.

I really enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge with my clients, helping them to improve and having fun at the same time. I adapt my lessons to individual needs so that everyone progresses at their own pace.

Environmental aspect is also a key part of the way I teach. My favourite resort is Flaine; I've been riding this mountain since 1991, always looking for hidden slopes. Sharing them with my customers is my greatest pleasure! Smooth instruction helps them gain confidence and makes the most of their rides!

Philippe

Philippe Clerc

I've been a ski instructor and mountain leader for over 30 years and I'm one of the few people who live in Flaine all year round. I love showing people around my adventure terrain and teaching them the best way to explore it safely. In winter it's free ride skiing, ski touring or snowshoeing and in summer hiking and mountain biking as a guide. I will try to bring you all my teaching experience and knowledge of the unique mountain environment of Flaine!

Anna & Tom couple pic

Anna & Tom

Anna started skiing when she was 8 and snowboarding when she was 14 and loves both equally. She has done 3 previous winter seasons in Tignes and Meribel, which are two of her favourite resorts as well as Lake Louise in Canada and Cardrona in New Zealand. She loves off piste skiing and snowboarding but also empty, wide, freshly groomed blue runs.

Tom started skiing in his mid-twenties trying to keep up with his older brother in Bulgaria. He then did a winter season in Chamonix after climbing Mont Blanc with friends a few months before. He would recommend the Kandahar run in Chamonix and loved skiing in the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia.

Anna & Tom decided to do another season together as they are passionate about cooking, hosting and skiing. They run their own street food business together over the summer, serving their home cooked food at big music festivals all over the UK.

I first discovered skiing when I was 11 and went on my first ski holiday with my school to Austria - I can't remember where, it was a very long time ago! Never mind, the place didn't leave much of an impression but the sport certainly did. I continued to ski until my 20's when it became a religion and I then qualified as an instructor. That still wasn't good enough, the passion grew and grew until now in my 30's, the time came for a career break: I left the world of design and set up a small independent ski company based in the Chamonix valley. Which I ran successfully for 5 years, until the real world caught up with me again.

I saw the club Rep position, not merely as a means to ski more, but give back some of my passion for the sport by helping other skiers enjoy there holiday to the max., through what I see as an invaluable club service. So what happens when the snow melts? You'll often find me on the Dorset coast windsurfing, running, cycling...See you on the slopes!

Been skiing since a schoolboy and love it as much now as when I first started. Having done instruction, racing, snowboarding and ski ballet over the years, these days I prefer to ski off piste wherever safely possible, and enjoy the freedom that brings to exploring much more of the mountains.

I have been a Ski Club rep for many years, and some of my favourite resorts to work in are Flaine and Chamonix. I can't wait to meet you on the slopes this winter!

Hello! I was lucky enough to have parents up for adventure taking me, age 6, to the Caingorms, and to the Alps through my teen years.

Coming late to SCGB I discovered the Freshtracks holidays signing up for Andermatt pre- Christmas 2017, and then the Leaders (now Reps) Course in 2018.
Best skiing moment of recent times was taking my niece and nephew to Bulgaria in half term... who would have thought it - brilliant!!

Close second, have been skiing the Vallee Blanche and Grande Montets back country in Chamonix, getting deep in the Niseko powder, and heliskiing through the forest and mountain tops in Canada. One lucky girl, now I'm just trying to keep sharing those skiing moments in winter and swimming open water challenges during the summer for as long as I can.

  • Consistently excellent snow quality and ski-in-ski-out slopes, Flaine is the jewel in the crown of the Grand Massif's 265km of varied and exciting ski area.

The north-facing bowl above Flaine has a reputation for maintaining great snow conditions, whether this is on the gentle blues above the resort or on the plentiful off piste that gives this resort so much variety. Add in the network of mostly tree-lined slopes dropping down towards Samoëns, Les Carroz and Morillon and the 265km of linked pistes will keep all but the most expert of skiers happy. So, it’s no surprise that Flaine has long been a key part of Ski Club Freshtracks and once again this winter we’re offering 15+ weeks of holidays at the two Chalet Freshtracks – ranging from Advanced Powder Skills holidays to Learn to Ski Powder trips.

The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.

Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.
