On Snow Experience

The holiday includes six full days of off piste skiing with an instructor. Groups will be organised based on ski level, and there will be up to 6 members in each group. Prior to booking, it is essential that members have the correct ski profile for their holiday. Please see the ‘View dates & prices’ tab for specific holiday information. At the end of the week you will receive an updated grading from your Ski Club Rep. Please be aware that ski touring may be required on this holiday. While we aim to use lifts for access, your instructor may suggest ski touring to reach optimal off-piste conditions. This will all be dependent upon the conditions and the instructor you have on your trip. As this is one of our larger holidays, there may be a group of members that do not want to participate in ski touring. If you would like to be in this group, please inform your Ski Club Rep at the beginning of the holiday.

John Shurmer

Been a rep since 97, love meeting new people and skiing challenging resorts.
Live in Prague where I make the most of long summer days to ride my mountain bike and the close location to Austria to ski weekends.
repping Freshtracks holidays is how I help the club these days, so come and join me, this year in Tignes and Flaine off piste courses.

rep-lisa-curran

Lisa Curran

An occupational health physician and travel medicine specialist with a passion for outdoor activities and the mountains. It's great to be returning to Tignes this year, one of my favourite areas to ski. Looking forward to exciting ski adventures with the group. Come and join me!

rep-mark-wardle

Mark Wardle

I have been skiing since the age of 8. I completed the Joint Service Downhill Ski instructors course in the Army and also did some ski racing during my 10 years in the Army. Since my Army days ( a few years ago now! 1994) I have skied and snow boarded in multiple resorts across Europe, plus one resort in America and two resorts in New Zealand. I often organize ski trips and guide friends and families around resorts. I love to meet new people and have shared experiences. I have a passion for the outdoors and have been known to free camp on top of mountains! (in the summer). My other interests include sailing, tennis, diving, motorcycling and charity work. Looking forward to skiing with you in the future.

Skiing for me

It’s not only a sport;

It’s a way of life

Serge Stippentoir Tignes

Serge Strippentoir

Throughout the last 35 years I skied in Val d’Isere, I refined, sharpened and developed my skiing education to make it a "lifestyle" which can be summed up in one sentence: "be at the right place at the right time".

Whatever your ski level it will be my pleasure to make you discover, during your next ski holidays, the "Pyrenean style” that is ski with the minimum of effort and the maximum of pleasure!

Uffe Ysten

Born on the west coast of Sweden where we had a bit of snow, but no hills! I quickly found my way to the alps, where I started doing winter seasons in the mid 80’s. Been living in Val D’ISERE for 35 years and  a regular guide for the Ski Club for about 20 years I love to share my experience off and on piste in one of the best areas in the world! Looking forward to another great season with heaps of snow!

Tchenko Tignes

Skiing is so addictive, isn’t it?

The thrill of the descent, the stunning mountain views, the cold fresh air, the crunch of snow underfoot and the vibrant Apres ski. Oh, and memories which last a lifetime! Despite skiing for over 30 yrs in resorts all over the world, and a career in ski media nearly all my working life, my passion for the sport remains unabated.

On planning retirement, the key question was how am I going to continue to feed this love of the mountains and give something back to the sport? Having worked for the Ski Club for many years and skied with its Reps on several occasions, I understood the value of the product and admired it greatly. So there was the solution: join the fold, which I did in 2018! I look forward to meeting you soon and sharing our passion.

Tignes shares the huge Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area with its eponymous neighbour Val d’Isère. Between the two there are 300km of pistes for all abilities, ranging from long gentle greens to seriously steep off piste. The lift system is very good after a lot of investment in recent years and even if the natural white stuff is lacking, a powerful snowmaking system and the Grande Motte Glacier ensure that snow reliability is as good as it gets. There are four separate villages to choose from. If you’re looking for guaranteed snow, good value accommodation, a lively nightlife and maximum practicality then Val Claret and Le Lac are your best bets. For a quieter, wooded setting then either Les Boisses and Les Brévières make a great base – especially for families.

Experience one of Europe’s top resorts, where 300 kilometres of pristine slopes, vibrant après scenes, and the spectacular Grande Motte Glacier come together to create the perfect trip.

    Pros and cons

    • Fantastic snow record – the best early-season bet
    • Loads of great, varied terrain shared with Val
    • Large areas of lift served off piste
    • Lots of convenient, ski-in-ski-out accommodation
    • Bleak, treeless setting with lifts prone to closure in bad weather
    • Still a few long, slow chairlifts that need replacing
    • Quite a long transfer and road prone to closure in snowstorms
    • Resort can appear a bit stark and high-rise for some

    Hotel Le Diva

You will be staying at the Belambra Clubs Hotel Le Diva on a half board basis. Located in Val Claret with incredible views of the Grand Motte and surrounding summits, the hotel is just a short walk from the ski station and Grande Motte Funicular. This holiday is on a single occupancy basis.

If you are travelling as a couple/pair and would rather share a room then please do contact the office and they would be more than happy to help.

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday.

We offer a Ski Club Insurance policy which provides the cover we require for all bookings. This policy can be found here: Ski Club Travel Insurance – Ski Club Of Great Britain

If you decide to purchase insurance elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure that your policy provides cover as that of the Ski Club Insurance policy. The policy of insurance should provide cover for personal injury, death, medical and repatriation costs in the countries which you intend to visit, together with cover for loss of baggage and valuables, personal liability, delay, cancellation, curtailment, missed departure and legal expenses. The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.

Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

    • have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen area

Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel.

NB: Starting in 2025 (Date TBC) travel authorisation will be required to travel withing Europe – find out more here ETIAS (europa.eu)
