On Snow Experience
Join over 70 Ski Club members to kick the season off in style! The holiday includes six full days of off piste skiing with either an instructor or mountain guide. Groups will be organised based on ski level, and there will be up to 6 members in each group. At the end of the week you will receive an updated grading from your Ski Club Rep. Please be aware that you may be required to do some ski touring on this off piste holiday. Where possible the lift system will be used to access off piste terrain, however if you need to venture a bit further afield in order to access the best off piste conditions then your guide may suggest ski touring. This will all be dependent upon the conditions and the guides you have on your trip. As this is one of our larger holidays, there will be groups that may not want to participate in ski touring. If you would like to be in one of these group, please inform your Ski Club Rep at the beginning of the holiday.

A keen skier for many years, both Piste and Off Piste in Europe and Colorado. Always looking for short queues, sunshine and a good Tartiflette! I have led work and community groups for day and weekend trips to the Scottish Ski Resorts and look forward to supporting the Ski Club GB now. In the summer I enjoy Yacht racing and cycling (road and mountain biking.

I have skied with my family for 30 years, with 2019/20 being my first as a Rep. I really enjoy meeting new people and skiing challenging resorts and runs with great company. I'm newly retired and planning on spending a lot more time skiing so hope to meet you in resort or on a Freshtracks holiday soon.

Uffe Ysten
Born on the west coast of Sweden where we had a bit of snow, but no hills! I quickly found my way to the alps, where I started doing winter seasons in the mid 80’s. Been living in Val D’ISERE for 35 years and a regular guide for the Ski Club for about 20 years I love to share my experience off and on piste in one of the best areas in the world! Looking forward to another great season with heaps of snow!

My name is Pascal Arpin, I am a 52 years old and I live in Séez close to Bourg Saint Maurice in the high Tarentaise Valley.
I am a mountain guide since 1998 and I work with the Ski Club of Great Britain for about 20 years.
I really enjoy guiding in ski touring and off piste skiing around Tignes and Val d'Isère but also in different others places abroad. In summer I guide people on hiking on glaciers or on rock climbing.

Rab Bickerdike – The Development Centre
Rab has been skiing since he can remember and was brought up on the “character building” slopes of Scotland. Since 1999 he’s been doing seasons in Pila, Chamonix, Les Gets, Verbier, Aosta, and now Tignes for it’s “good vibe and massive off piste possibilities”.
After many seasons of teaching and coaching experience under his belt, Rab still loves to pass on his love and knowledge of the sport, whilst respecting and enjoying the mountain as much and as often as possible. Rab very honestly admits to his park and pipe background, and at any given chance will be upside down or back to front. He is just as happy on skis or a snowboard.
India Cairns – The Development Centre
India started skiing when she was 2 1/2 years old and got her first instructing job at 18. After a brief break to get a degree in history and sociology, she worked her way through BASI to get ISTD qualified. India loves the variety of teaching any level and any age, but really enjoys getting more ladies hooked on the sport.
Like most TDC instructors skiing has taken her all over the world to Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Japan and France, but her bucket list is endless. She spends the summers in winter at The Remarkables, in New Zealand.
Personally she loves off piste skiing, keeping on top of her ropey freestyle skills, getting out on a board and occasionally competing in some freeride comps. Off snow she likes pretty much any activity as long as she’s not injured.
Fred – Snocool Ski School
In love with the mountain, he organizes off-piste sessions in the Tarentaise Valley and ski adventures around the world.
Steven – Snocool Ski School
Steven is originally from the Netherlands. He has been leaving in the Tarentaise valley for the last 25 years. Thanks to his origins he has no language barrier and you will feel comfortable with him at the first turn. He speaks perfectly English with a great accent.
He is able to share his knowledge naturally, no matter your age level or nationality. Steven teaches piste and off-piste, children or adults, ski or snowboard.

Tignes shares the huge Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area with its eponymous neighbour Val d’Isère. Between the two there are 300km of pistes for all abilities, ranging from long gentle greens to seriously steep off piste. The lift system is very good after a lot of investment in recent years and even if the natural white stuff is lacking, a powerful snowmaking system and the Grande Motte Glacier ensure that snow reliability is as good as it gets.There are four separate villages to choose from. If you’re looking for guaranteed snow, good value accommodation, a lively nightlife and maximum practicality then Val Claret and Le Lac are your best bets. For a quieter, wooded setting then either Les Boisses and Les Brévières make a great base – especially for families.

L'Aiguille Percee
Located in Tignes Le Lac, you’ll be staying on a half board basis at the L ‘Aiguille Percee. The rooms and communal areas are decorated in a traditional alpine chalet style, with wooden features throughout. The hotel also has wellness facilities including a sauna, hammam steam room and Jacuzzi. As you are staying on a half board basis, your breakfast will consist of a continental breakfast buffet which includes hot and cold beverages. Evening meals will take place in the hotel restaurant, which will provide you with a panoramic view of Tignes Le Lac. Your evening meal will consist of three courses with ⅓L wine, ½L water & tea/coffee included.
During the trip, you will be staying in half of a twin share en-suite room. If there is another member on the holiday that you wish to share with, please ensure you inform the Freshtracks Team on the phone, or in the notes section when booking online. If you don’t mind who you share with, then you will be placed in a room with another member of the same gender. Single rooms are available upon request for a supplement. These are subject to our hotel room allowance. If you require a single room, please book early to avoid disappointment.

Travel Information
This holiday includes both your flights and transfers.
The early flights are with Swiss Air departing from London Heathrow to Geneva Airport. Ski carriage is included in the fare. There is a £60 supplement for the flight.
The later flights are with British Airways departing from London Heathrow to Geneva Airport. Ski carriage is payable at the airport only and cannot be pre-booked.
Your Ski Club Rep will coordinate the coach transfer from Geneva airport, so please look out for them in the main arrivals hall; they will be wearing their blue Ski Club jacket. The transfer will take roughly three hours.

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday.

If you decide to purchase insurance elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure that your policy provides cover as that of the Ski Club Insurance policy. The policy of insurance should provide cover for personal injury, death, medical and repatriation costs in the countries which you intend to visit, together with cover for loss of baggage and valuables, personal liability, delay, cancellation, curtailment, missed departure and legal expenses. The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.
Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

For most European destinations your passport should:
- have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago
- have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen area
Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel.
NB: Starting in 2025 (Date TBC) travel authorisation will be required to travel withing Europe – find out more here ETIAS (europa.eu)
When venturing off piste, it is compulsory to wear an avalanche transceiver. These can be provided by the Ski Club and should be worn by every person on every all mountain, off piste and touring holiday. Anyone joining these holidays will also be required to bring their own backpack, shovel and probe.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Any Member wishing to ski/snowboard with a Ski Club Group, in any of the resorts where the Ski Club is represented, agrees to do so under the following conditions:
- You appreciate that the Ski Club Rep is a volunteer with no formal qualifications as an instructor or mountain guide.
- You also appreciate that no other member of the group undertakes any obligations to you concerning your safety for which you remain solely responsible.
- You must ensure that your equipment is in good working order before setting off for the day and that you are suitably clothed for the proposed itinerary and all possible weather conditions.
- You must decide whether or not a particular run or route is within your competence.
- You must ensure that you are properly equipped for that day. If you are skiing off piste you must have a shovel, probe and transceiver, and know how to use them. If you are using a Ski Club transceiver, it is your sole responsibility to know how to use it.
- It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you are suitably insured for the activities intended to be undertaken.
