Sierra Nevada provides everything you could want from a long weekend ski trip, with a splash of Mediterranean magic and hopefully some of the sunshine the nearby Costa del Sol is famed for! Using Malaga airport as our arrival hub gave us numerous options from regional UK airports and the 2 hour group transfer completed the easy trip to Pradollano at 2100m. The trip’s Spanish flavour was a very welcome change from the more usual alpine atmosphere with the chance to try some tapas and local wine or beer a real treat after a day’s skiing.

I discovered skiing unexpectedly at the age of 40, and it quickly became my passion, some might even call it an obsession. Since then, I’ve been making up for lost time by exploring many of Europe’s larger ski resorts, as well as some hidden gems, and have made several trips to the incredible Whistler. Over the last few winters, I’ve had the privilege of spending multiple weeks on the slopes, deepening my experience, honing my skills, and expanding my knowledge of the sport.
In December 2022, I completed the Ski Club of Great Britain Rep’s Course in Tignes, and since then, I’ve eagerly embraced the role of Ski Club Rep both in resorts and on Freshtracks Holidays. I can’t wait for the upcoming season, where I look forward to skiing with fellow Ski Club members and sharing my enthusiasm for this incredible sport!

4 nights half board, twin share, return scheduled transfers, 4 days social skiing
We were very pleasantly surprised by the quantity, quality and variation provided by the 110km of mainly blue and red pistes of Sierra Nevada which were more than ample for a few days cruising in the sunshine. The more challenging red runs of the Laguna sector, spotting the coast of North Africa from the top of Veleta and 15cm of fresh snow mid stay were real highlights. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the town which can be lively with locals and fun at weekends, but don’t impact a good night’s sleep!
