Fortunate enough to live and work on the edge of the Lake District I’m never far away from a mountain! Although beautiful, Cumbria’s are usually lacking on the snow front! I spend my summers running an event hire company which is pretty much 24/7, but that means I can spend most of the winter skiing so it’s not all bad, I love meeting like minded people, fresh powder, blue skies & hunting out that best run of the day.

I've been repping since 1991 and have ripped in most resorts. I spend most of my season in Val d'Isere which has great range of on and off piste terrain.

Having wandered the world with a backpack for several years in my 20's, I found myself staying with friends in the French Alps one winter with nothing much planned and simply fell in love with everything about the skiing lifestyle. Doing everything I could to prolong the visit, including washing thousands of pans, shovelling tonnes of snow and living in a broom cupboard! I realised I was hooked.

Alas, real life intervened and back to Blighty to pursue a career in IT, with skiing trips a much longed-for highlight. A lovely Freshtracks week with an awesome Ski Club Rep and local guide persuaded me to have a go at the Rep. course myself and, well, here I am! I am keen on most mountain sports, but apart from skiing I love to hike, canoe, paraglide, climb Via Ferrata, and ride my bikes - both pedal and powered.

Married with two grown up daughters. I have been skiing for over 30 years and love to travel miles on skis preferably to a great lunch venue. I will tackle any piste and reasonable off piste always taking into consideration those I am skiing with and everyone's safety. I particularly like skiing in the soft snow just off the piste where conditions are often best. I successfully completed the Ski Leader Programme in December 2016.

First went sking with the Rossendale Ski Club to Sansicario after I finished university and have been skiing ever since.... Going round left hand corners nvolved sitting down and turing round the skis. I enjoy offpiste sking, ski safari and ski touring when I get the opportunity and the time...
I spend my summers sailing so end up with some serious scheduling conflicts around april ... when both sports are available.
I love the mountains and enjoy the thrill of an open slope, fresh powder and a crystal blue sky! I have skied mainly in Europe and occasionally Canada and Chile/ Argentina with ambitions on the USA. I enjoy ski touring and exploring the backwoods either in search of a good slope or a good lunch! In the summer I cruise and race yachts looking for adventure. With all leisure involving combinations of wind, sunshine and water... in varying amounts. Now retired although officially qualified in chemical engineering and HR!

Now semi-retired I am looking forward to my Summer in the mountains as a mountain leader. Winter 2023 holds the promise of skiing in Zermatt and Davos in addition to Cervinia and the beautiful Dolomites. I look forward to meeting some old friends and to forging new friendships through SCGB!

I skied as a teenager for the first time in Scotland and was hooked. As a first year student I followed up with a bus trip to Mayrhofen, skiing great, travel exhausting. Every year since I have found time to ski and enjoy the mountains and my enthusiasm has not waned. Latterly, I have begun ski racing, Inferno, AICC, Macmillan Cup. It's great fun!

A picturesque and peaceful resort, Klosters is an exceptional choice for those looking for a relaxing week on the slopes.

    Pros and cons

    • Great linked ski area shared with Davos
    • Fantastic, long red runs down to the valley
    • Charming and traditional village
    • Good mountain restaurants
    • The slopes are spread over six widely separated areas
    • T-bars an issue in places, but new chairlift at Madrisa helps this
    • Limited après scene
    • Quite expensive, but not as flashy as other resorts

    Silvretta Parkhotel

The rooms at the 4* Silvretta Parkhotel are spacious and stylishly furnished. Single rooms are included within the price of this holiday, so there is plenty of space for you to relax in after a long day on the slopes. Other amenities include a games and billiards room and a spa. Evening dining is on a themed buffet basis. As previously mentioned, this holiday is on a single occupancy basis. You will therefore be placed in a room on your own for the duration of the trip. If you would prefer to share a room with someone you know, then please contact the Freshtracks office and we will make the relevant arrangements.

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday. We offer a Ski Club Insurance policy which provides the cover we require for all bookings. This policy can be found here: Ski Club Travel Insurance – Ski Club Of Great Britain

The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.
Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

    Rep Review – February 2024

    Ruth Marshall, July 8, 2024

Choosing a holiday in the Davos/Klosters area we are truly spoilt for choice in where we ski each day. With Davos offering us Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn (and Pischa if standards allow for skiing a non pisted area) and Klosters adding Madrisa - how lucky are we! A fantastic long run is from the top of the Weissfluhgipfel high above Parsenn down to Schifer with at certain times of the season being able to add a bit of itinerary skiing as an optional extra!

The lovely Silvrette Parkhotel in Klosters is close to the bus stop for Madrisa but a bit of a walk to the Gotschnabahn, however we can leave skis (and boots if necessary) at the ski shop by the lift for CHF 5 (especially welcome at the end of the day!). In the hotel there is a gym, small swimming pool and a Jaccuzzi to sooth the aching thigh muscles at the end of the day! Breakfast and Dinner are buffets with more food than one can possibly eat - even a hungry skier!
