Two fast lifts – a gondola and a fast six-pack – whisk you up to Espiolets, from which the entire Grandvalira area awaits. A network of mostly blue and red runs links up with the slopes above El Tarter to the west and Pas de la Casa to the east. Almost every run is over 2000m and a good proportion are covered by snowmaking, making this a snowsure bet for your winter holiday.
Soldeu is a good place to start, especially as the ski school has an excellent reputation. The nursery area is very good but note that it is up at Espiolets so must be reached by the gondola, the same lift that early learners will want to download on at the end of the day. From this point on, however, and with almost half of the runs in the ski area rated as blue, the progression opportunities are very good.
There is plenty to keep all but the keenest intermediates happy. Trips to either end of the Grandvalira area – to Pas de la Casa at one and El Tarter at the other – are in the reach of all intermediates and are certainly recommended. We would also suggest taking on the Rossinyol blue run along towards the Canillo access lift for its views and a sense of peace and quiet.
The town is growing and there is really good selection of accommodation, a lot of which is in easy reach of the lifts. Unfortunately it is not traffic-free so the busy main road may put off families from staying on it, but quieter spots can be found extremely nearby.
Most of the activities and care for children are located up the mountain at the top of the gondola at Espiolets. The facilities up there are great, but it does mean that there is not as much to do in town. Staying in one of the bigger hotels with a pool is therefore the best bet if you’re looking for off-snow activities.
Lots of the bars in town have live music or DJs and some of our favourites include the Aspen, Fat Albert’s and the Villager. If you really want to party then end your skiing day at the neighbouring resort of Pas de la Casa, which is famed for attracting hoards of party-goers and some big-name DJs.
Toulouse airport to the north and Barcelona airport to the south are the nearest to Andorra, both of which lie around three hours away. Hiring a car is the best option.
Both dates are subject to conditions

High pressure and mild conditions dominate the Pyrenees throughout the middle of the week, with positive temperatures and plenty of sun at 2,000m. Things will turn on a ha’penny as Thursday begins, with temperatures plummeting as unsettled weather moves across the region. -20°C can be expected overnight into Friday.
This weather will bring with it some snow, with 15cm expected down over Thursday afternoon and evening, helped along to all slopes by this plummeting freezing line. More stable weather comes in again over the weekend, with the freezing line creeping back up and plenty of sun to boot.

We are making important changes to how you register to ski with the Club this season, including shifting registration to the Ski Club App. Please note, this option is not yet available; we thank you for your patience in this matter.
Your Ski Club Reps are in resort for one reason only; to help you discover better skiing. They are your personal resort gurus, with years of experience skiing here and around the world, who will bring you and your fellow Members together to conquer the mountain! Stay up to date with everything in resort, find the best spots for an après beer, and ski to your hearts content.
Our Reps will be in resort between 5 January and 29 March 2025, skiing six days a week – Reps’ day off/changeover day is Sunday in this resort. We are making changes to how registration to ski with the Club in resort works. Thank you for your patience whilst we undertake these updates to the registration process.
I started skiing late but there was no turning back and I haven't missed a year since then until 2021. No idea what happened then! It all began in Austria before trying the big French resorts and several in North America. Soldeu in Grandvalira has become a big favourite with its huge ski area centred on this sociable little village. Being part of the Rep Service provides a great chance for a few extra weeks on the snow and an opportunity to meet like minded people!
I first fell in love with skiing in my teens with like-minded school friends, and I still ski with them some 40 years later. I enjoy any form of skiing, especially socially with others who share a love the mountains. I live in Suffolk, I am recently retired and have three boys and a lovely lady at home.
We are still early in the process of assigning Reps for the 2024/25 winter season. Thank you for your patience whilst we make these arrangements.
Having been lucky enough to ski from childhood, I’ve always loved spending time in the mountains and on the slopes. If you board, I can happily join you, although they say I’m not quite as bad on skis. I recently got into touring which has been a revelation. Off the mountain I enjoy swimming, running and biking, in the great outdoors when the weather is kind. Work has taken me all around the world and I’ve also lived in France for part of my life. I’m always grateful for being able to experience the mountains in the way that we do, and look forward to meeting like minded people every season for fun and snowy adventures.
My first love is and has always been skiing. My love affair started when I was a young student and I cut my teeth on the mountains of Scotland. I have been fortunate to ski in many European resorts over the years as well as America, Canada and Japan. I like nothing better than cruising the piste to skiing steep and deep, and now dipping my feet into some ski touring too! From a fair-weather skier to an all-weather skier (and sometimes snowboarder too) I love it all. A bad day on the slopes is better than a good day at the office!! I really look forward to meeting you and sharing my joy of skiing with you, as well as the coffee & cake stops
I have been a ski lover for more than 35 years, shunning summer holidays just waiting for the snow to arrive. I have skied extensively in Europe, the US and Japan. my favourite skiing is in the USA. I love to ski off piste and I am always on the hunt for fresh tracks. I like a bit of cyling to keep the legs in shape. I also love classic cars and motor sport. I am looking forward meeting and skiing with members in Soldeu this season.
Hi, I'm David, and I've been riding the snow on skis and boards since I started work... I mostly ski these days, and whilst I love a good powder day ( who doesn't!) I also enjoy a good piste blast. I'm equally happy with a nice mountain coffee or vin chaud, and always keen to sample mountain cuisine. Favourite spots - anywhere it’s snowing! When I’m not skiing, I’m usually found in a dinghy, on a bike, or behind a camera. Ciao!
